Engelbrecht von Gleichen ca. 1200?

Legg inn av gj01777 » 26. juli 2005 kl. 12.01

I would like to know if anyone knows a Count Engelbrecht von Gleichen,
whose daughter is supposed to have married the progenitor of the Kaas
noble family in Denmark? They lived around the year 1200.

Was he a descendant of Charlemagne.

Sincerely Yours:

Allan Martens Andersen, Denmark.

The (or is it a) von Gleichen family can be found in ES Band XIX.If
Engelbrecht is a Count he should be part of that family.

In the index there is no entry for Kaas, but as you say progenitor of that
family perhaps the daughter married someone with a patronym or different
surname? Do you know the name of this daughter and hopefully her husband?

Once we have a finger on this couple it should be fairly easy to establish
if there
is a descent from Charlemagne.
Let me know if you have more details.
Best wishes

Dear Leo.

I dont think I have any firstname of the daugther of Engelbrecht, who
married Jens Kaas, they are supposed to be the parents of a Christen
Lændi. I have it from the NSDB base in Denmark, that tries only to
take its knowledge from a real source like the DAA Danmarks Adels
Aarbog. Though there is no source for this.

What we know about Engelbrecht von Gleichen only is that he died in
1208, and that he had other children in Denmark. His wife could be a
denscendant of Charlemagne, but how do we find out who she was? Many
children of noble parents were said to have married a Count, the
highest goal for a noble lady in the Middleages.

Which von Gleichen died in 1208, and who was his wife. Can you find
that out Leo. It would be very pleased if you could find a link back to
Charlemagne.

Sincerely Allan M. Andersen.
