I'm new -- from Iowa, USA

Hello -- I'm just a Baby at this > < but I will try to navigate without speaking/ reading Norsk. (please answer however you like; I'll find a translator here.)
I need ask a general Question about my hopes to find a photo of my great-grand-mother, in Levanger, N-Tr sometime before she died too young in 1890. How can I learn what "basic family photo traditions" were then, there? We DO have studio {solo} pics of each of her two daughters as toddlers (photos circa 1895, 1889) and I have YAY :D very recently found through relatives a photo of her husband (oldefar Johan Odin Jorgensen, 41, when he as widow remarried in 1892) - - so now I would BIG-TIME LOVE to show my Mom here (age 93) any photo of her mormor Laura Rebekka LIE (fodt 1847, Haaa gaard; m. Jorgensen) . (One of her toddlers when grown, emigrated in 1909 -- and the subsequent descendants are in Midwest USA).
SO -- even if the family were poor {and they were}, SINCE there were these two {solo} studio photos made of the little girls,, Wouldn't We Think that the Mother was also photographed? or did poorer families only have the Child photo-documented? IS THERE A NORD-TRONDELAG "old photo depository" or any Levanger photo-Historians? [I have "run dry" with relations-requests about this photo Hope.] Can anyone advise me please? Mange takk... -- Marsha: [email protected]

Yikes -- a mistake, aleady. :? THIS posting should've been put in the Stordal/ Verdal district, ja? (Not Inderoey.) How can I switch it to that location in DIS Forum?

As a moderator I'll move it for you. No problem :) Seems like Levanger is the right place to put it. Ok?

Thank you (tusen!) , Torill. Yes, Levanger is the best place, takk. Is that part of Verdal district? Someday soon I will "pick up" enough Norsk to read the directions and "cues' correctly. -- MAPP

Take a look at this map. Levanger is marked with a green pin. You can zoom in and out by using the scale to the left :)

Hei (Hi!!) Marsha!
If you want to get started learning some Norwegian "online"...I would suggest you take a look at the Sons of Norway site (http://www.sofn.com).
Go to Norweigan culture, and then Learn Norwegian.
It is a way to get started!
Have a nice day!
mvh (med vennlig hilsen)...with friendly greetings!!
Patty
