"I'm Linda Kelly nee Jeglum in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. I've been researching my
Norwegian ancestry, and I am stuck at a VERY CRUCIAL POINT. I wonder if you
could help me by looking in the Bygdebok for me please? I've heard the
family is from Gol, or Geilo, farm name Jegleim or Jeglum.

Apparently, there is a story that got passed through the generations, about
7 brothers who each had 7 sons....., and they immigrated to the US.

Knud Halvorsen (Jeglum) born about 1790-1800 had many sons and daughters and
immigrated in 1849, with his wife.The wifes name appears to be Kysborg??
Iveland, on the ships passenger list.

Some of his sons and daughters on the ship were:

Ole Knudtsen born about 1826
Lars Knudtsen born about 1827
Sigrid Knudtsdatter born abt 1829
Ragnild Knudtsdatter born abt 1830
Eric Knudtsen born about 1833

I have found them on the "SS Drafna", departing Drammen arriving in New York
July 25, 1849.

Knud Halvorsen was 60 at that time.

Do you have any information about this family before they immigrated to the
US in 1849? My Family came from Eric Knudtsen!
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

If you can find them in the Bygdebok for me, and scan all the relative pages
about this family, I would greatly appreciate it."
