Hans Povelsen of Ophaug in Bøverdalen

Hans Povelsen, 60, of Ophaug is listed in the 1664 census with his sons: Olle Hansen, 28, and Jørgen Hansen, 21: http://gda.arkivverket.no/cgi-win/webce ... =4084#ovre

I would like to know if any other information is given about this family in the Lom bygdebok. I would especially like to know if Hans Povelsen’s son, Jørgen Hansen, moved to Li in Dovre. Any other information about this family would be greatly appreciated.

Lom bygdebok doesn't say anything about Jørgen, other than his name and that he was born about 1643. So nothing about him moving to Dovre.

Hans Pouelsen in Lom can not be the father of your Jørgen Hansen at Dovre.
Jørgen`s father in Dovre is Hans Ellandson.

Thank you for your response. I really doubt the accuracy of the bygdebok and have been told by many prominent researchers that they are, at best, very unreliable. The only Jørgen Hansen listed in the 1664 census for this area is the one listed at Ophaug. He also is listed in his mother's probate record of 1664. He is just about the right age as my ancestor. I find it very odd that if Jørgen Hansen did reside at Li, Dovre, in 1664 he is not listed in the census there. I am very inclined to believe that Jørgen Hansen of Ophaug is in fact my ancestor.
