Hans ANDERSEN & Juliane ERIKSDATTER: Østfold to NZ, 1872

Hans ANDERSEN, his second wife, Juliane ERIKSDATTER, and 4 of their children, emigrated from Norway to New Zealand in 1872, per ship "Høvding":

I am seeking the following information:

1. Hans' parents (his father was Anders ANDERSEN) and date and place of birth.

2. His date of death in NZ. I think this date is recorded on his marriage records, below, as 1883, but cannot translate - could someone please confirm?

3. I have a number of Hans' children listed at

Of his 17+ children, only Mathilde Sophie, Clara Emilie, Hans, and Jenny emigrated to New Zealand, so I would like to know what happened to the others.

Hi

The marriage to Helvig was not his first marriage. He was a "enkemand" widower when he was married des 29, 1847.
The note under his name tells: Han død paa Ny-Zealand 1883 = He died in New Zealand 1883.
The note at the far right tells he had a "Attest" (certificate) from Rakkestad dated Oct 6.

Hans Andersen was born Des 21, 1824 and baptized jan 16, 1825. No 8 right page:

I found this record which might account for the death of Han's first wife, Johanne OLSDATTER:
Østfold fylke, Rakkestad, Ministerialbok nr. I 8 (1842-1849), Døde og begravede 1846, side 977-978.

Died 28 Aug 1846; buried 02 Sep 1846, See no. 61.

I cannot read Norwegian and am wondering if there is anything in this record that would indicate this is the same person.

I am trying to find the birth records for Hans' and Juliane's children as follows:

Hans (born about 1869)

Jennie Marie (born about 1871/1872)


I haven't been able to determine where/when they were born, but have the following records which may help:

Hans ANDERSEN - their father - born 21 Dec 1824 in Skarpholt, Rakkestad, Østfold, Norway.

Juliane ERIKSDATTER SYVERSTAD - their mother - born 02 Jul 1861 in Borge in Borge, Østfold, Norway.

The church record has the family leaving for New Zealand on 10th April 1872:

According to NZ BDM Hans Andersen died 16th Aug. 1882.

* Peter Anton b. 1848 in Borge - may have gone to the United States, but cannot find death/emigration.

Maren Sofie b. 1850 in Østfold; d. 1850 in Skjeberg - I have located these records.

Maren Sofie b. 1851 in Skjeberg; d. NZ - I have located these records.

* Niels b. 1855 in Årum, Borge - I have this record, but cannot find death/burial (FamilySearch says he died the day he was born, but I cannot confirm.)

* Niels b. 1857 in Årum, Borge - I have this record. Found in 1865 census in Sannesund eller Torve - Gaden, Sarpsborg. Not with father at emigration.

* Otto b. 1859 in Årum, Borge - I have this record. Found in 1865 census as foster child of his maternal aunt in Barakke No 3, Borge. Not with father at emigration.

* Bolette b. 1859 in Årum, Borge - I have this record. Found in 1865 census with step-mother Juliane in Sannesund eller Torve - Gaden, Sarpsborg. Not with father at emigration.

Children of Hans ANDERSEN SKARPHOLT and Juliane ERIKSDATTER SYVERSTAD:

Mathilde Sophie b. 1862 in Borge - I have this record. Emigrated from NZ. Either died at sea, or before father Hans died in 1882.

* Emma b. 1865 in Sarpsborg - I have this record. Found in 1865 census in Sannesund eller Torve - Gaden, Sarpsborg with mother Juliane. Not with parents at emigration.

Clara Emilie b. 1867 in Sarpsborg - I have this record. Emigrated to NZ. Found in NZ records.

Hans - as above. Emigrated to NZ, but haven't been able to trace him after that.

Jenny Marie - as above. Emigrated to NZ. Found in NZ records.
