I am seeking information about Fred Justesen, who left Denmark in
1889-90 and arrived in Racine, Wisconsin in 1890. Freds last
registered location in Denmark was Viborg.
According to the 1910 census records Fred worked as a painter at a
wagon factory in Racine

He was married in 1890 to Minnie M. Justesen and they had 5 children
in 1910:


Millie aged 19 i 1910 , she worked as a semstress at a shirt factory
Annie J. aged 17 in 1901, she worked as a laundress at a laundry.
Myrtle J. aged 14 in 1910
Carlus M. aged 12 in 1910
Esther N. aged 10 in 1910


Any information is greatly appreciated. Especially information about
Freds and Minnie birth and birth place.

Annie, born Sept. 1891, Wisconsin
Myrtle, born Dec. 1894, Wisconsin
Carlos, born Jan. 1897, Wisconsin
Esther, born Sept. 1899, Wisconsin

I have later found that the wife, whose maiden name was Marie Rasmine
Nielsen, is listed (as Marie Nielsen) in the book "Passport to
Paradise: The Copenhagen Mormon Passenger Lists" by Shauna Anderson
et. al., but I have no access to this book here in Denmark. Maries
record should be listed on page 682.
My sister figured out that Marie and Fred (Frederik) immigrated
together and got married in Racine on Dec 23., 1889. They probably
left Denmark end of November begining of December 1889. We have
records showing that both of them presented their tickets to the
police in Copenhagen on Nov. 6., 1889.
Marie is a sister to our great grandmothers mother in law, but we have
not been able to find anything, except the immigration record, about
Fred here in Denmark. Probably because the 1880 census is not yet
fully digitized.
I have ordered their marriage certificate from Racine hoping it will
have information about Fred's birth place and date.

County, Wisconsin, a volunteer may be able to find the application

located in Racine. In my state of Maryland, the marriage application
does not indicate the place of birth, only the place of residence.
Some ship manifests may also provide clues as to birth location.
A death certificate may also provide a clue.

Now I got a transcript of the marriage certificate and indeed it did
provide place of birth for both broom and bride.
Turns out that Frederik was born in Daugbjerg near Viborg in Jutland.
Still we cannot track him further but at least we have found more
information about his family. Frederik seems to be from a very poor
family. His mother was left alone with several kids when his father
dies only 38 years old, when Frederik is around 14. Frederik is most
likely sent to a farm to work, but we have not been able to find
records showing where he went. Records about his confirmation in
church are also missing. Maybe because around the time for his
confirmation his father dies.
His mother dies a few years later 40 years old probably of consumption
or cancer.
We also found Frederik's younger brother living as a pauper at the age
of 14.
