I am a visual person and the interface is very appealing. I also like
the idea that it is gecom-based so, in theory, you would not lose
anything when sharing (FTM has a reputation for losing notes and
sources when exporting) They also claim to be able to print a tree
with all members. I would like to see all children on a chart, not
just direct ancestors.

I'd like to hear from anyone who has used the software and find out if
it's as they claim. I don't mind paying the higher price if it's a
good program.

Legacy is far more better:

TreeDraw Legacy Edition is also good add-on.

Hi,

I use many genealogy programs all for different reasons.

Family Historian is one I use to get the outline descendant tree which is
superior to the others. You can go both ways from the newborn up and from
the oldest down whichever you choose.

It is probably the easiest of all printouts for older people to understand
excepting Brother's Keeper's descendant tree chart found under reports. The
luxury of changing the reports in FH is also great.

I will try the addition of children when I get time.

I use geographical links to make the whole more comprehensible
Ur-Lapham an unknown ancestor in a location
LAPHAM born in USA
Lapham the rest

all the John Lapham so far
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi
and with a few Joseph lapham

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi? ... m&id=I2258
is in effect a shopping link of irish references to the name

it would take a couple of months research in Dublin to clean it up
I have the time but not the money :-(

all these easy to spot 11 year spans are guestimates by me for
indexing purposes and based on the date of a marriage or first born's
birth or christening

off line I use FTM 16 and I can customize the reports almost without end
viewing the same data on world connect has two advantages

typos are easier to spot in surnames
all the data about one individual is displayed on one page

eg
http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi? ... m&id=I0168

on every page is written

There are bound to be errors - so always check original sources -
assumptions and hypotheses exist - this ONE-NAME STUDY is a work in
progress not a final authority

I have circa 16000 names still to add from published data

I use blog format for the related webpages

# LAPHAM 1 http://lapham36.blogspot.com/
links to LAPHAM sites around the world

# LAPHAM 2 http://lapham2005.blogspot.com/
sources and work done in the LAPHAM one-name study

# LAPHAM 3 http://kilmington.blogspot.com/
one-name study blog

Rootsweb admin would not give me
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~lapham
because I already have
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hugh

so I took *my* bat and ball to play in another street :-)

but blogging data is a handy way of keeping notes
easier than FTP up to a website

enjoy
