FTM merge sources

Legg inn av John Bennett » 11. desember 2006 kl. 22.27

I have recently upgraded to FTM ver.16 and imported (merge/append) an
FTM file sent to me by a distant relative.

I seem to remember in earlier versions of FTM that all the names
imported to an FTM file were source tagged as something like
xx(file name)xx.FTM, sometimes with the date of import.

This does not appear to be the case now and I wonder if there is any way
to "tag" all the names in an imported file with a "master source" such
as the above to identify where they originated?

select a name and try

control s

keep the original file very carefully

because the original sources should be in that

The file I have just imported has no sources embedded in at all (so

Ctrl-s shows no sources).

I just want all the entries imported from that file to show as a source
where it came from eg "Joe Bloggs FTM imported 12 Dec 2006". I am sure
earlier versions of FTM used to do this whether you wanted it or not.

Alternatively is it possible to tag all the names in an FTM file with a
source (eg "Joe Bloggs FTM imported 12 Dec 2006") before importing it
into a master file?
